Emin Turan

Emin Turan builds his paintings on organic textures covered in squares formed by the movement of fluid paint on the canvas surface, which he calls “geometry of gravity”. These open-ended and chaotic textures with the images they evoke in his mind make up the beginning of his creative playground. Turan produces expressionist, lyrical, and figurative paintings by adopting a process-oriented and cyclical approach to painting. In his paintings, he mainly uses vivid colors and strong brush strokes while examining the relationship between humans and nature with symbolic images. Turan, who says that he looks into himself with the eyes of nature in his paintings, is deeply affected by his long trip to South America in 2014 which also inspires the conceptual infrastructure of Turan's art.

Born in Çanakkale in 1979, Emin Turan graduated from the Neş'e Erdok Atelier at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University Painting Department in 2004. In 2007, he completed his master's degree at the Painting Department of the Institute of Social Sciences of the same university. Nine solo exhibitions were opened at the Evin Art Gallery, where he has been working since 2006. Between 2004 and 2019, he participated in the ARTIST Istanbul Art Fair organized by TÜYAP annually. Turan, who has participated in many group exhibitions in Turkey throughout his art career, participated in the group exhibition “Encounter” held in Zemin Berlin in 2021. The artist, who continues to attend the MSGSU Painting Department Art Proficiency Program, continues his practices in his atelier in Istanbul.
