Ilgaz Gürün focuses on the small stories overlooked in the routine flow of life in her paintings. While depicting moments based on her personal observations, she aims to evoke familiar experiences related to the human condition that foster a shared sense of empathy in the viewer. Through her unconventional framing choices and use of dramatic lighting, she creates a sense of unease while simultaneously highlighting the absurdities of life that have become normalized, with a touch of irony.

Born in 1998 in Kocaeli, Gürün graduated from the Painting Department of Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University in 2022. In the same year, she began her master's studies in the Painting Department at the same university. The artist continues her practices in her studio in Istanbul.
